Partial Opening – critical workers and vulnerable children (from Tuesday, 5th January)
Reception to Year 6 Pupils. Please be aware that the Nursery will be closed until further notice.
Late on 1st January 2021, primary schools in Lewisham were directed to remain closed after the school holiday to the majority of pupils due to the extremely high covid-19 infection rate within our borough. We understand that this decision will be reviewed by the government on 18th January, in line with the latest information on infection rates at that time.
Tidemill Academy is closed from Monday 14th, December. Remote learning will be in place for the remainder of the term. We will re-open on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021.
Update as at 2/10/20
If your child receives a positive test result for Covid-19, please inform the school as soon as possible. This will enable us to respond as rapidly as possible in advising the rest of our community on any action they may need to take.
If you get a positive test result, outside of school hours (before 8am and after 4pm weekdays OR on the weekend), please phone the school, select option 0 and leave a clear message stating your child’s full name, year level and class.
Phone: 0208 692 3470
You will then be contacted by a member of the senior leadership team. This option should ONLY be used if you receive a positive test result for your child from the NHS.

Update as at 1/6/20
As you are aware, after a thorough risk assessment, Tidemill plan to begin a phased wider opening. This will start with Year 1 pupils on Monday, June 8th. Year 1 parents who wish to send their child to school on Monday 8th, must use the booking form sent to them today to secure a place. Booking must be completed by Wednesday 3rd June at 12p.m (lunchtime). This will ensure we have appropriate arrangements in place for the correct number of pupils. Please read the letter below for further detail, including other year levels returning.
Update as at 12/5/20
On Sunday, the government announced that primary schools may have a phased opening starting on June 1st. As a school, we have already started considering plans for making this as safe and manageable as possible for children, families and staff. However, currently the announcement has prompted more questions than supplied answers.
Please be assured that, as we make plans, safety will be our priority. We will send further information as we move closer to the date and further safety guidance has come out.
Update as at 7/4/20
This afternoon, the DfE have stated that benefits-related free school meal funding will be made available for eligible families over the Easter holidays. This will not include future school holidays. Tidemill will therefore move dates forward to release funding from the national voucher scheme and will make retrospective payments which will start from this week (ideally on Friday 10th April). If you believe you are eligible, please check your email to ensure the school holds your correct details. If your details are incorrect, please log into Arbor and adjust them.
Update as at 6/4/20
Earlier today, I sent a letter with several updates including the national voucher scheme for families currently receiving
benefits-related free school meals. I have seen in the news that the DfE may now be releasing funding to enable this to cover the Easter holidays. This information has not come through in the daily DfE education update sent to schools. We will be monitoring this closely and will ensure families are able to access any entitlement as soon as possible.

Dear Parents & Carers,
Tidemill Academy will close at 3:30pm on Friday, 20th March. In line with government requirements, we are aiming to have some provision for identified groups of children. We are currently planning for this and will keep you as informed as possible.
Update as at 13/03/2020
We are receiving a growing number of enquiries regarding the situation with Covid-19, Coronavirus. We can assure you that we are following all government advice. We have ensured handwashing has a very high profile in the school and will continue to do so. We have taken other precautions such as cancelling all assemblies and trips using public transport.
As a school, we receive daily updates from Public Health England. We will keep all parents/carers informed regarding any changes in status as and when they happen. As such, can we please ask that should you have an enquiry that you, in the first instance, check on the NHS website, before taking up valuable office time with general enquiries that can be answered elsewhere. Any relevant letters sent to parents will be added to this page.
